I know it's October, but why stop now?

Just the other day, a co-worker had asked me why I never asked him to go with out kayak fishing with me, and I responded by saying, "...we can still go." Of course, he said, "...no way, dude!  It's too cold out!"

I paid $10 for a saltwater fishing license, and $28 for a freshwater CT license. I like to get the most out of my fishing by fishing nearly year-round. I usually start in early March and fish into late December. I fish mostly saltwater, but when it's this late in the season, I like to try a little freshwater action.

Just because it's cold doesn't mean it's time to wrap everything up and put everything away. Now's the time when the action heats up! You just have to dress warmer, that's all.

This winter, I'm going to invest in a dry suit for kayaking in colder weather/water which is about $50 per top & bottom. It'll also add some safety to kayaking in the early morning and evening hours.

Once the leaves are all down, and picked up (usually about 3 weekends), I will resume fishing again.

I will try my hand at fishing in Coventry Lake, Coventry,CT.  I can park at a friend's house, walk my kayak down to the water's edge, and launch from there.

The beauty of having a kayak is the freedom to launch virtually anywhere and fish in total privacy - no annoying jetskiers, no loud pleasure boaters zipping up & down the lake, and no waterskiers either. I can reach all the tough-to-get-to spots without being harassed.

I usually like to bring my digital camera with me for some nice photo opportunities, too.

Here's to hoping that Winter doesn't come too soon!
